Traditional karate, self-defence and weapons training
Traditional Karate
We have two dojos on the Central Coast/Lake Macquarie region, where we teach traditional Goju ("hard/soft" style) karate and
provide students with safe, professional and practical instruction of the
techniques and virtues of Goju-Kai Karate-do. We are part of the extensive
worldwide network of the International Karate Goju-Kai Association (IKGA) which
is renowned for its precision, effective techniques and grace of movement. We are closely affiliated with the Sydney IKGA network.
We offer a meaningful and structured grading program. Whether you strive for better fitness, flexibility, balance, athletic movement, self-defence skills or ultimately wish to progress to black belt and beyond, we cater to all levels of martial arts training. Training seminars by karate masters (Shihans) are scheduled on a frequent basis.
Kobujutsu
We incorporate traditional Okinawan weapons training into our classes and we are affiliated with the Ryukyu Kobujutsu Hozon Shinko-Kai (RKHSK), a world-famous
martial arts school, dedicated to the art of traditional weapons training. Karate
(empty hand) and kobujutsu (weapons) training are complimentary and allow greater choice and flexibility to self defence. The weapons training is very enjoyable and taught to maximise safety.
New students always welcome
Our dojos cater to all levels of skill from complete beginners to advanced students. We welcome students from 12 years to adults of all ages. We aim to improve all our students to become better people, physically and emotionally - as well as gaining self defence skills. The club supports each member allowing everyone to progress at their own rate, with respect, courtesy, understanding and safety. This is a core philosophy of Central Coast Gojukai karate.
